Ready for the season

So, this weekend was kinda a blurr just because we have been running around with friends here and family there and church things here and there... so I'm looking forward to this weekend when I might get some time at home to relax...along with the multitude of family and church outings of course (hey I love easter egg hunts and filling all the eggs with candy... that I eat some of on the way)...

But tonight with our youth we wanted to give them a detailed recollection of the Road to the Cross and Ressurection as we called it. So we had the teens sit on the floor (instead of our comfy church chairs), take their shoes off, and listen to as detailed an account of the events of Jesus' death that I could explain. I learned quite a bit about some events I didn't know much about in my studies preparing for tonight. Some interesting points I found were:

-Before Jesus was taken to Pilate, the chief priests of the Sanhedrin (that is the Jewish court) put Jesus to the trial. However, a jewish court, by law, is not able to sentence a man to death...this is why he was taken to Pilate.
-A Jewish court was also not supposed to meet at night...which they did to for Jesus...thereby breaking their own laws... tsk tsk
-Jesus was put on trial a total of 6 times... 3 for the Sanhedrin, 2 for Pilate, and 1 for Herod
-It is not recorded how far Jesus had to carry the cross, but at the time Jerusalem was .6 miles long, so He at least walked that far carrying that heavy tree.
-The place Jesus was crucified was called the Place of the Skull or Golgotha
-Jesus was placed on the cross at roughly 9:00 am on Friday morning...His last words were spoken at 3:00 pm that afternoon
-When Jesus spoke His last words, the temple curtain ripped from top to bottom. The curtain was 60 feet high, 30 feet wide, and as thick as a persons hand is wide...thats heavy duty
-There was not just one guard watching over the was between 4-18 soldiers... and when the Angel appeared to them after the stone was rolled away...they all fell to the ground in shock... what a bunch of strong men huh
-Jesus appeared for 40 days after His resurrection before He went up to be with God.
-Jesus suffered greatly, but He did it because He loves us.

God is just revealing to me more and more about His blessings, love, and mercy. I'm so thankful for all He's done in my life, and I hope you can say the same!

May you all have a great week!

The Spider Won

Yesterday I decided I needed to clean the downstairs. We have tile everywhere downstairs except for a big living room rug, so mopping was in the to-do list. I don't like mopping and I usually use the wonderful Swiffer method to spot clean the kitchen... but for the entire downstairs I must use the mop. Now I know you are thinking "eww" mops are gross, but I bleach mine and sterilize with hot water and then rinse after every use, so I'm going to say that its pretty clean. So began to mop...moving the rug...tackling the bathroom...and then it was time for the hallway to the kitchen.

Now, if you are a regular reader then you are aware of my enormous fear of spiders. If you are not a regular reader... then you are about to see how much I have arachnaphobia.

So, in order to clean the hallway I had to move a basket with some of my A&M paraphernalia to a chair, and then move the chair out of the hallway. So I pick up the basket, place it on the chair, and move the chair to the kitchen...and then I noticed the spider the size of a quarter (although at the time it felt like the size of grapefruit) crawling up my arm! Yes, up my arm. Of course I screamed and flung it off in whatever direction I could and proceeded to run for my life. I then began to sob uncontrollably while flinging my arms and jumping in the air so to knock off any other unwanted critters that might have happened to attach to my limbs. And then I called Robert, bless his heart, he probably thought I had gotten in a car wreck or something since I was crying uncontrollably...

So needless to say, I didn't finish cleaning. I left my house in a mess and left to go to a worship conference with our praise team and asked Robert to find the scary spider or I know I would not have been able to sleep that night. And my wonderful husband did find mr. mean spider. I can rest easy, knowing that one is no longer able to haunt me. Yes, I am away that there are spiders everywhere, but the big ones need to stay away... or else I'll just scream and cry.

Happy weekend!

20ish Miles

So this post has really no purpose except to empty once again the contents that are floating inside my head...

Every weekday I drive approximately 20ish miles to my work in Odessa. I cruise on down I-20 at whatever speed it takes to get to work on time... within reason of course... and I spend the 25ish minutes to clear my head. Some people would find the 25ish minute drive to be a bore day after day or a hastle... but I look forward to it. Maybe its because I like my music cd's and the chance to sing at the top of my lungs to my favorite songs... or maybe its because some days I just turn off the music and spend the time praying or singing whatever praise song comes to my head... or maybe because on my way home I have some time to catch up with friends on the phone (since cellphone use is not prohibited in Texas yet)... whatever the reason, its 25ish minutes to work and 25ish minutes from work that I get to make the most of.

Wednesday evening I was on my way home amongst an outrageous wind storm. Of course this is not out of the ordinary for west Texas... we have wind storms frequently... but this one was wrecking havock on my driving ability. I believe if there weren't fences lining I-20 that I would have been swept away by swarm of tumbleweeds and other debris. This frightened me quite a bit considering that there are alot of large trucks on my route and I could have been blown into one of their tires... yikes. I think its about time I get a more wind storm friendly vehicle... what do you think :)

I am so glad its Friday tomorrow...this afternoon seemed like it lasted 2 days worth of time and I'm ready for an afternoon to clean up my house (and get a hair cut). So I hope everyone has a great Friday, and I hope its not windy tomorrow!

This weekend Robert and I spent time with lots of family... it was with my family on Friday night enjoying some Double Dave's Pizza (mmm chocolate chip pizza) after an entire day of shopping and scary movies... then time with Robert's family on Sat and Sunday nights for our niece's 4th birthday.
It was a beautiful weekend also, with the sun shining nice and bright. Robert and I went for a walk today to enjoy the outdoors.

But along with all the family moments (and shopping, I got some very lovely shoes at Target to jump-start spring)... it was also Harry Potter Weekend on ABC Family. Now I know that I'm an adult now, but I do love the book series and by association the movies. No I did not watch every showing they had (because it was running all weekend), but I did keep it running in the bedroom whenever we were home. And they were showing clips from the 7th HP movie to come out in November (The new Twilight comes out in JUNE!), so of course I watched those. But one of my friends had this video posted on her facebook and it made me laugh b/c I would so be at one of these games if I could... Quidditch for Muggles

Got to love fiction! Hope you all have a great week!

A Tale of Maryland...

So this is really late, but I wanted to doctor up some of the photos that were taken of our trip to Maryland (because my camera is not very cooperative), so nevertheless... this is Maryland!

One of my best friends got married in Annapolis last weekend... It was beautiful! He is in the marines and she is a pastry chef. They live in North Carolina, but had a destination type wedding in Maryland...complete with lots of fun!

(I stole this picture from another friend)

Downtown Annapolis!

My friend Molly being so crafty and painting Britney's cast to match her high heeled shoe for that day...

Rehearsal Luncheon
All the Bridesmaids and the Bride

Yes, the bride was on crutches (she broke her ankle skiing),
but she sure did pull it off beautifully!

Inside the Naval Academy where the ceremony was held...

Three high school friends still together!
(we missed you Mo!)

Yummy cake!
Both cakes were made by Charm City in Ace of Cakes
the show on the Food Network
They were so awesome!

This is the plane that the groom flies...
notice the crutches on the side...just for the bride

and p.s. the clouds were cotton candy!

Making their getaway! Watch out for those crutches!

Congrats to the Knickerbockers! It was a blast the whole weekend! And I'm glad we got to hang out with some other friends while we were there too! Maryland, you were good to me, I'll be back for some more crab cakes!

Where have we been?

Besdies being in Maryland for a wedding this past weekend, we have been running around preparing things for our Youth Group, helping out family and friends, and trying to squeeze in time for each other here and there. I'm so excited about the things going on in our lives and I promise to do better in sharing things with you all!
First of all though, I would like to say congrats to my friend Britney in her wedding and definitely be ready for some awesome pictures and stories...
Second of all, best wishes to my friend (and PT buddy) Nikki as she begins the last stage in becoming a are amazing and I know you will continue to be!
And lastly, there is more to come. Keep trusting in God's plan for your lives... because His plans are BIG!
